Health data

Pupstep reads your steps and walking/running distance from Apple Health only after you grant permission. If a new Health reading is delayed, Pupstep keeps the last confirmed Health total for today. Otherwise, it waits for Health. Activity stays on your devices and updates your pup, progress and widgets. After initial setup on iPhone, the Apple Watch app can read steps and walking/running distance from Health on the Watch.

Pupstep does not write Health data. If Apple Health access is unavailable, denied, or not readable, the app explains that progress may not update and points you to iPhone Settings.

No selling, sharing, ads, or tracking

Pupstep does not sell your data, share your Health activity data with third parties, use activity data for advertising, or track you across apps or websites.

On-device storage

Pupstep saves your settings, pup’s name, bond, memories, personal records, earned rewards, unlocked purchases and activity history on your iPhone. The app and widgets use this information to show your pup and progress.

If you use Pupstep on Apple Watch, the paired iPhone sends your selected dog, outfit, activity preferences, goals and recent activity to the Watch using Apple WatchConnectivity. The Watch keeps a local presentation cache for its app and complications, including its own Health readings. App Group storage shares this cache between the Watch app and its widgets on the same device; it does not send data to a Pupstep server. Memories, earned days and permanent rewards are recorded on iPhone.

Reminders and sharing

Pupstep requests notification permission only after you choose to enable the optional daily walking reminder. The schedule is managed on your device.

Memory cards are prepared on your iPhone. A preview may already show saved steps or distance; you can hide those numbers before sharing. Only the numbers you see on the card are included. The card opens in the iOS share sheet only when you choose to share it. Pupstep does not upload it to a Pupstep server.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Pupstep checks your purchases with Apple to unlock breeds and accessories.

Accounts and support

Pupstep does not require an account. If you email support, your email address and the information you choose to include are used only to respond to your request.
