Health and motion data

Pupstep reads your steps and walking/running distance from Apple Health only after you grant permission. If Apple Health updates are delayed or unavailable, Pupstep can also use same-day iPhone Motion activity as a read-only fallback. Activity data is used on your device to calculate your dog state, progress, and widget display.

Pupstep does not write Health data. If Apple Health or Motion access is unavailable, denied, or not readable, the app explains that progress may not update and points you to iPhone Settings.

No selling, sharing, ads, or tracking

Pupstep does not sell your data, share your Health or Motion activity data with third parties, use activity data for advertising, or track you across apps or websites.

On-device storage

Pupstep stores settings, your companion name, bond progress, walk memories, earned rewards, purchase entitlement state, recent progress summaries, and widget snapshots locally on your iPhone using Apple system storage. This lets the app and widget show your latest dog state.

Reminders and sharing

Pupstep requests notification permission only after you choose to enable the optional daily walking reminder. The schedule is managed on your device.

Milestone cards are created only after you choose to share. Activity progress is excluded by default and included only when you explicitly opt in. The card is passed to the iOS share sheet; Pupstep does not upload it to a Pupstep server.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Pupstep checks App Store entitlement state to unlock optional cosmetic breeds, the All Dogs bundle, and individual accessories.

Accounts and support

Pupstep does not require an account. If you email support, your email address and the information you choose to include are used only to respond to your request.
